Somatics is about your living body in its current form and does not require a certain level of fitness or mobility. It just requires curiosity and willingness to discover new perspectives.

I am not an artist. Can I still try creative arts sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Absolutely. Humans have been turning to the creative arts for healing and education for thousands of years. I believe accessing our creativity is a human right. The creative arts therapies take a person centred approach meaning that your exploration and expression is the central focus of the work more than an art outcome. In other words we work with the creative process more so than trying to achieve a particular product.

Do you take Medicare's Mental Health Care Plan?

Unfortunately psychotherapists are not able to provide the medicare rebate for Mental Health Care Plans. Only those registered psychologists and mental health social workers signed up with Medicare are able to do so.
 
To meet the needs of clients, especially as I understand many psychologists have closed books or long waiting times, I keep my fees in the same range as a person would likely pay for the gap between the psychologists fees and the Medicare rebate.

In addition, as a Registered Clinical Counsellor with PACFA, I have a provider number and can take the following private health funds: Medibank, AHM, and ARHG.
